We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dedicated Special Needs Physical Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where students of all abilities can develop physical skills, confidence, teamwork, and a love for movement.

• Develop and implement adaptive PE lessons tailored to students’ individual needs and abilities
• Foster a positive and supportive learning environment
• Collaborate with special education staff, therapists, and families
• Monitor student progress and encourage participation and growth
• Ensure student safety during all activities

NEARI is a twelve month day school for learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, neurologically challenged and mental health students ages 7-22.

NEARI seeks teachers in Special Education with subject area experience to work in its elementary program. Creative lesson planning, strong classroom management and the ability to provide a structured environment are essential. NEARI places a premium on relationship capacity and looks for staff with strong relational skills, warmth, engagement and firm limits. NEARI has a strong brain-based approach to learning and behavior management and the successful candidate should be open to learning about this very exciting methodology.

Salary for this position is based on educational level, licensure and years of experience.

• Degree in Physical Education, Adaptive PE, Special Education, or related field
• Teaching certification preferred
• Experience working with children with diverse learning and physical needs
• Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills
• At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
• Bachelor degree preferred.
