Job DescriptionA para educator supports teachers and students in the classroom by providing instructional assistance, supervision, and help with daily learning activities. The para educator works under the direction of a certified teacher or school administrator to help ensure students receive a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the teacher with classroom instruction and student activities
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons
- Help prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
- Support students with special needs, behavior plans, or accommodations
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher
- Supervise students during class, lunch, recess, field trips, or transitions
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment
- Assist with basic clerical tasks as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree or 48 college credits, or have passed either Para Pro or Work Keys
- Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
- Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow teacher direction and school policies
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist students as needed
- May need to lift up to 50 lbs to help support students and move classroom materials
