As one of the largest providers of school-based therapy in our region, River Valley Counseling Center partners with 11 school districts in Hampshire and Hampden Counties to provide outpatient therapy and mental health care for children and adolescents. Position Summary:
The School-Based Clinician at River Valley Counseling Center provides trauma-informed mental health assessment and treatment to individuals at schools serviced by RVCC. This role includes developing and adjusting treatment plans, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The clinician promotes culturally responsive, strengths-based care while supporting clients through crisis intervention, community referrals, and ongoing therapeutic support.
- Conduct clinical assessments, diagnose mental health disorders, and develop personalized treatment plans for clients.
- Provide ongoing therapy to individuals, families, and/or couples, adjusting treatment plans as necessary and conducting ongoing assessments of progress.
- Utilize strength-based, trauma-informed, resilience-building communication strategies in interactions with clients and families.
- Exercise cultural humility and respect at all times.
- Maintain client confidentiality, rights, and records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Document all clinical work accurately and maintain client records according to established RVCC and regulatory standards and procedures.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of community services and resources for clients.
- Coordinate any necessary referrals, outreach, advocacy, or case consultation as appropriate to meet client needs.
- Report abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or disabled person in accordance with Massachusetts law for mandated reporters.
- Participate in client care and multidisciplinary team conferences when indicated.
- Facilitate family consults and/or sessions when clinically indicated for minor clients.
- Education Level: Master s degree in human services, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work
- Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, crisis intervention skills, organization skills, attention to detail, computer skills, good customer relation skills, knowledge of legal and ethical issues pertaining to the profession - Preferred:
Years of Experience - 3 years preferred;
However, new grads are welcome to apply - Licensing - LMHC, LMFT, LCSW or LICSW in the state of MA

- Pay Structures:
Fee For Service and Salary Plus. Part-time and full-time clinicians can create their own schedules with flexible options and paid time off. - Salary Ranges:
Fee For Service - $35 - $51 per billable hour;
Salary Plus - $52,000 - $60,000 base annual salary - Hiring Bonus:
Up to $2,500 for Master Level, Unlicensed Clinicians;
Up to $3,500 for LCSW;
Up to $4,000 for Independently Licensed Clinicians (LMHC, LMFT, LICSW, Lic. Psychologist)
