The Center for Human Development (CHD) has several Recovery Coach positions available. Recovery Coaches are individuals in personal recovery from addiction who provide direct support to those with substance use issues in the Franklin and Hampshire counties area.
Your Role as a Recovery CoachThe Recovery Coach will work with one individual at a time, establishing and supporting the person's recovery plan. Responsibilities include setting short‑term goals, motivating the person toward recovery, building a confidential and supportive relationship, providing informal guidance, acting as a sounding board, and building confidence and hope.
This position partners with Cooley Dickinson Hospital where you will work with New Beginnings, a program that promotes education and support for pregnant and postpartum women in recovery.
Requirements- Candidate identifying as in recovery from a substance use disorder and willing to share personal recovery experience.
- Minimum two years of sustained sobriety.
- Knowledge of the needs, concerns, and goals of individuals who struggle with addiction.
- Completion of the Recovery Coach Academy; computer skills preferred but not mandatory.
- Reliable, registered & insured vehicle and approved driving record check.
- Approved criminal background check (CORI).
The ideal coach has strong interpersonal skills, empathy for others, and a demonstrated commitment to supporting those with significant needs. Flexibility, humor, teamwork, and independent work ability are valued. Coaches observe confidentiality and boundary rules, receive supervisory support, regular team gatherings, and ongoing training for professional growth. Advancement opportunities are available within the CHD structure. Spanish‑speaking candidates are encouraged to apply.
