The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organization by ensuring accurate accounting records, timely financial reporting, and efficient close processes. This individual will play an integral role in maintaining the accuracy of financial information, supporting budgeting and forecasting efforts, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and driving continuous improvements within the accounting function. Success in this role requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic business environment.
- Manage monthly and annual financial close activities, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting financial statements.
- Partner with internal departments to obtain financial and operational information necessary for complete and accurate reporting.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable processes while providing support for payroll activities when required.
- Assist with the development of the annual operating budget as well as periodic financial forecasts.
- Evaluate financial performance by analyzing actual results against budget and forecast expectations, identifying and explaining key variances.
- Maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to established accounting policies and financial practices.
- Support both internal and external audit engagements by preparing documentation, responding to audit requests, and assisting throughout the audit process.
- Recommend and implement process improvements designed to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and optimize accounting workflows.
- Prepare and submit required tax filings, including Sales Tax, Commercial Activity Tax (CAT), Business & Occupation (B&O) Tax, and Property Tax returns in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Provide backup coverage for payroll processing and perform additional accounting and finance responsibilities as business needs require.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
- At least three years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- Experience working with Oracle Net Suite is highly preferred, along with exposure to ERP system implementations or integrations.
- Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
- Familiarity with tax reporting requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and contribute to operational efficiencies is preferred.
- Full-time position.
- This role requires working onsite 100% of the time.
