Midwest Precision manufactures complex, tight-tolerance components for aerospace, defense, and other demanding industries. Our Eastlake team works in a precision machining environment where safety, quality, efficiency, and operational excellence matter.
The CNC Mill Setup Operator sets up and operates vertical and horizontal CNC mills, including Makino or comparable machining centers. This is a hands-on setup role for someone who can take a job from setup through first-piece approval and stable production.

- Complete full setups on CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines.
- Review job packets, blueprints, setup sheets, tooling requirements, and quality instructions.
- Install and indicate fixtures, select and load tooling, touch off tools, and establish work offsets.
- Load, verify, and prove out CNC programs; make approved offset and program adjustments at the control.
- Set speeds and feeds, identify tool wear, and troubleshoot setup or machining issues.
- Produce first-piece and in-process parts that meet tight tolerance and GD&T requirements.
- Inspect work using calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, comparators, and other precision measuring tools.
- Document production and inspection results and maintain a clean, safe, organized work area.
- At least two years of CNC milling experience with demonstrated setup responsibility.
- Experience setting up vertical machining centers; horizontal milling experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, understand GD&T, and work to close tolerances.
- Working knowledge of tooling, work holding, offsets, speeds, feeds, and first-piece inspection.
- Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, or other aerospace-grade materials is preferred.
- Makino or similar CNC machining center experience is preferred.
- Ability to work independently on first shift after training and qualification.
- On-site manufacturing position in Eastlake, Ohio.
- Regular work around CNC equipment, metal chips, coolant, oil, and production noise.
- Safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety-toe footwear are required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
