Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Manufacturing

About Midwest Precision

Midwest Precision is a CNC manufacturer serving the aerospace, defense, energy, and fluid-power industries. We manufacture complex, close-tolerance components where quality, traceability, and reliable delivery matter.

We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with required experience in Mastercam and Solid Works who can turn production challenges into practical, repeatable solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and improve CNC machining processes for production parts
  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam
  • Create and modify models, drawings, fixtures, and manufacturing designs using Solid Works
  • Select tooling, inserts, work holding, speeds, and feeds
  • Reduce cycle times, setup times, scrap, and rework
  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, tooling, quality, and process issues
  • Partner directly with CNC setup operators, programmers, quality personnel, and production leadership
  • Review part drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T requirements
  • Develop fixtures and work holding solutions
  • Create and maintain setup sheets, work instructions, and process documentation
  • Support first-piece approvals and resolve issues identified during inspection
  • Evaluate existing jobs for opportunities to improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery
  • Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Ensure processes comply with AS9100, customer, and internal requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Mastercam
  • Proficiency in Solid Works
  • Experience in a CNC machining or precision-manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming, tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining processes
  • Experience improving CNC milling and/or turning operations
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T
  • Working knowledge of cutting tools, fixtures, work holding, and inspection methods
  • Strong troubleshooting and practical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with machinists, quality personnel, and production leaders
  • Strong organizational and technical-documentation skills

A bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent hands-on manufacturing and engineering experience will be considered.

Experience in aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
