Summary
The Procurement Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring direct and indirect materials necessary to support production and operations—including paper, film, ink & glue, pallets, corrugated, maintenance supplies, and other indirect materials. This role focuses on supplier performance, cost optimization, and cross-functional collaboration while ensuring full alignment with Mondi’s quality, sustainability, and compliance standards. This role is on-site at our Eastman, GA location.
Responsibilities- Create and maintain all purchase orders including paper, film, ink & glue, corrugated, maintenance, and other miscellaneous expenses.
- Ensure purchase order cycle efficiency, effective purchase order management.
- Audit invoices and checks for accuracy, receipt of material, and compliance with purchase orders.
- Perform material part number creation and management.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate inventory and procurement records.
- Monitor supplier performance through the life of the contract; identify opportunities to drive value through improvements.
- Identify cost savings opportunities and make recommendations to leadership.
- Strategic partner assessing risk, working with multiple suppliers across the plant, region, and organization.
- Track key metrics such as cost savings, on-time delivery, and inventory turns.
- Improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Prepare proposals, request quotes, and negotiate purchase terms and conditions.
- Analyze industry and demand trends and support leadership with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.
- Work cross‑functionally to support other departments within the business.
- Support Corporate Procurement and Local Plant team.
- Ensure procurement compliance with all Mondi policies and guidelines.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by leadership.
- 5+ years of experience in Purchasing, Planning, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with emphasis on Operations, Supply Chain Management, Business, or another applicable field.
- SAP experience a plus.
- Strong understanding of business processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Project management experience a plus.
- Effective skills to build relationships and interface productively with all levels of the business.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
