Middle School Social Studies Teacher

Halifax County Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and student-focused Middle School Social Studies Teacher to inspire learners in grades 6–8. The ideal candidate will bring history, civics, geography, and economics to life through engaging, standards-aligned instruction that promotes critical thinking and civic responsibility.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
• Teach middle grades social studies content (World History, U.S. History, Civics, Geography, and Economics).
• Use primary sources, discussion, and project-based learning to deepen student understanding.
• Assess and monitor student progress; adjust instruction based on data.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
• Participate in professional development and school activities.

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education, History, Political Science, or related field.
• Valid North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Middle Grades Social Studies (or eligibility to obtain).

Preferred:

• Previous middle school teaching experience.
• Experience with technology integration and differentiated instruction.
