Job Summary

Helen Keller Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Grade 7 Social Studies educator to join our dynamic faculty. The ideal candidate will foster a love for history, geography, and cultural studies in students, while developing critical thinking and analytical skills. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • - Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines for Grade 7 Social Studies.
  • - Create a stimulating classroom environment that promotes student engagement and fosters a love for learning.
  • - Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • - Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
  • - Facilitate discussions and encourage critical thinking by guiding students in analyzing historical events, geographical concepts, and cultural perspectives.
  • - Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning opportunities and participate in professional development activities.
  • - Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance data.
  • - Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to support student learning and address any concerns.
  • - Participate in school events, meetings, and committees as required, contributing to the overall mission and goals of the school community.
  • - Stay current with educational best practices and trends in social studies education.
Requirements
  • - Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field.
  • - Valid teaching certification for middle school education with a focus on Social Studies.
  • - Proven experience in teaching middle school students, preferably in a social studies or related subject area.
  • - Strong understanding of social studies curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • - Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • - Ability to create an inclusive and respectful classroom environment that values diversity.
  • - Proficiency in using technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • - Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
  • - Strong passion for teaching and a desire to inspire students to become informed and engaged citizens.
