At the University of Maryland Medical System, we are committed to providing exceptional patient care and outstanding customer service. We are seeking a Front Office Coordinator to support the daily operations of our practice by serving as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and staff. This role is responsible for patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, payment collection, and administrative support to help ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.
Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m.
- 4:30 p.m.;
Friday: 8:00 a.m.
- 3:00 p.m.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting patients and visitors, answering and managing incoming calls, verifying demographic and insurance information, registering patients, collecting copays and patient payments, and coordinating patient check-in and check-out activities.
- Coordinate patient scheduling and access functions, including appointment scheduling, provider calendar management, appointment confirmations, referral processing, and arranging follow-up visits and ancillary services.
- Maintain accurate patient records and practice documentation by updating patient information, preparing charts, managing medical records, coordinating laboratory and clinical documentation, and processing correspondence and departmental communications.
- Support daily office operations by maintaining visitor logs, preparing and maintaining exam rooms, tracking laboratory information, facilitating communication between patients and clinical staff, and ensuring efficient workflow throughout the practice.
- Assist with administrative and front-office functions including data entry, charge entry, mail processing, and other operational duties that support quality patient care and practice efficiency.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One (1) year of customer service experience required.
- One (1) year of front desk, medical office, or related administrative experience preferred.
- Previous healthcare experience preferred.
- Scheduling and Registration Certification preferred.
Skills And Abilities
- Strong customer service skills with a professional and welcoming demeanor.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with patients, providers, and staff in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience using electronic medical records (EMR), patient registration systems, or other customer information systems preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to providing a positive patient experience and maintaining patient confidentiality.
