• Setting:
  Elementary, primarily general education
• Caseload:
  Primarily OHI, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Language Impairment – small but fluid, serving about 10‑15 students at a time

As a Special Education Teacher, you will support students with diverse learning needs by creating inclusive and personalized educational plans that help them thrive both academically and emotionally. This role offers the opportunity to work with young learners in a supportive school environment while making a lasting impact on their development.

• Accommodate, modify, and adapt lessons and curriculum as needed to meet individual student needs and IEP goals.
• Support the facilitation of IEP meetings as well as the development of the IEP.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental levels and interests of students.
• Set and communicate clear expectations for classroom behavior and school environment by applying positive reinforcement and/or behavior modification techniques as needed.
• Assist in the development and implementation of student behavior intervention plans.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, with a focus on special education or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
• Additional certification requirements as set by the Maryland State Department of Education.
