Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department with rotating night/evening shifts, requiring an active MD or Compact RN license and 2 years of ED experience.

Details
  • Work in a general Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric populations
  • Patient population spans all age ranges from infant to geriatric with complex, multi-system diagnoses
  • Facility is STEMI and Stroke certified
  • Patient ratio is 1:4, with up to 1:5 for lower acuity patients
  • Primary shift is rotating night/evening, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30 or 15:00-03:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required as scheduled
  • Floating required within specialty and to sister ED facilities as needed
  • No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
  • Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
  • Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI (CPI may be completed during onboarding)
  • NRP and TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ED nursing experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skilled in triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation
  • Experience managing psychiatric emergencies, including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
  • Competent in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, intubation, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with IV therapy, central line care, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
  • Skilled in administration of emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
  • Experience managing pediatric and adult conditions including asthma, sepsis, seizures, and sickle cell crisis
  • Proficient in orthopedic splinting and isolation precautions/PPE protocols
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency care across a wide range of complex diagnoses in a fast-paced ED setting
  • Care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, neurological, psychiatric, and multi-system conditions
  • Collaborate with the ED team to manage high-acuity and emergent cases
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Locals residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
  • Former staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • Return travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the system after a prior assignment
