The Deli Clerk provides exceptional service to customers by preparing, slicing, packaging, and serving deli products such as meats, cheeses, salads, and hot foods. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to food safety standards, and a friendly, customer-focused attitude.
Key Responsibilities:- Greet customers warmly and assist with deli orders in a professional and timely manner.
- Slice meats and cheeses to customer specifications using deli equipment.
- Prepare and package ready-to-eat foods, including sandwiches, salads, and hot items.
- Maintain clean and organized display cases, counters, and prep areas.
- Monitor product freshness and rotate stock to minimize waste and ensure quality.
- Label and price deli items accurately and in compliance with store policies.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down the deli counter each day.
- Provide information about products, ingredients, and cooking/reheating instructions to customers.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, efficient work environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to accuracy and cleanliness.
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and handling practices (training provided).
- Prior deli, food service, or retail experience is preferred but not required.
- Flexible schedule availability, including weekends and holidays.
- Exposure to hot surfaces, sharp tools, and cold environments.
- Standing, bending, and lifting throughout shift.
- Use of slicers, ovens, and other food prep equipment (with proper training and safety protocols).
