Job Description — Rotating, PART TIME
Job SummaryProtects persons and property at Shore Regional Health locations; patrols buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and other events from affecting operations or individuals.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities- Patrols buildings and grounds of Shore Regional Health properties and off-site locations to prevent fires, theft, and vandalism; inspects doors, windows, and locks to determine level of security.
- Operates security vehicles as necessary during the performance of job duties.
- Remain in radio contact at all times; acknowledge radio transmissions and utilize professional communication verbiage.
- Ensure only authorized personnel access Shore Regional Health properties and facilities.
- Ensure facility doors are locked and unlocked in compliance with established procedures.
- Utilize Word, Outlook, and other computer-based systems necessary for completing job expectations.
- Maintain current information in lost and found logs; notify individuals when lost items are located.
- Serve as a member of the Fire Control Team; respond to Code Red alerts and Shore Regional Health announced codes as appropriate.
- Investigate reported incidents of unusual circumstances; write incident reports and document investigatory steps and results.
- Respond to calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative individuals.
- Conduct Security Officer intake responsibilities for Emergency Petition and other patients identified as being at risk for self-harm or harm to others, including stand-by and/or 1:1 observation during exigent circumstances.
- Conduct Security Officer intake responsibilities for patients admitted to Shore Behavioral Health.
- Inspect outgoing parcels to prevent theft of hospital property.
- Store patient valuables in a secure location with appropriate documentation.
- Report fire and safety hazards, unusual occurrences, and accidents observed on patrols and inspections.
- Keep fire lanes, hydrants and ambulance entrances free of vehicle blockage.
- Issue warnings for parking violations and report employee violations to the Security Captain.
- Escort visitors, patients, and employees to and from parking areas.
- Assist staff and visitors with lock-out or vehicle maintenance issues.
- Inspect firefighting equipment, radios, and other security equipment; report malfunctions.
- Maintain logs of activities during the tour of duty.
- Direct patients, visitors, and other members of the public as necessary when entering and leaving the facility premises.
- Activate helipad operations upon notification of inbound medevac; escort flight crew to and from the patient location and provide non-medical assistance as necessary to support the medevac crew.
- Maintain Morgue Log and transport deceased individuals to the hospital morgue.
- Strive to achieve excellence of service in all facets of Security Department operations.
- Maintain honest behavior in all matters and comply with all applicable Federal and State laws, regulations, Joint Commission, and other healthcare oversight requirements.
- Maintain the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information; use and disclose only information necessary to perform the job.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and proper cash handling ability.
- Current CPR certification (must obtain within six months of hire).
- Must be at least 21 years of age.

Compensation- Pay Range: $17.68 - $24.76
