Campus Ministry Liturgy and Music Assistant

The Liturgy and Music Assistant supports the Campus Minister for Music and Liturgy in preparing and coordinating weekend and special liturgies, assists with Choir activities, and helps maintain the Chapel of Mary and music library. Responsibilities include preparing the Chapel for Sunday Masses, coordinating liturgical ministers, assisting with music and worship aids, supporting special liturgical events and rehearsals, and working with the Campus Minister for Liturgy and Music and the Director of Campus Ministry to ensure liturgies and events run smoothly.

Additional duties include music cataloging, Muse Score, Choir social media and activities, and weekly music licensing reports.

As the Liturgy and Music Assistant, you are expected to:

• Assist the Campus Minister for Liturgy and Music in:
  Reviewing weekend and special event liturgies to improve quality, Ensure that each liturgy has a full complement of qualified ministers, Music library (cataloging and copies for Choir), and Social media and planning activities for Choir.
• Assist in some Choir matters, usually entering music into the Muse Score program as necessary.
• Work in conjunction with the Director of Campus Ministry and the Campus Minister for Liturgy and Music to ensure smooth execution of all liturgical events in the Chapel of Mary.
• Licensure reporting for music used in the prior week’s Masses.
• Prepare the Chapel of Mary for Sunday liturgies by placing batteries in the microphones, ensuring that the lectionary, missal, and psalm binder are properly set, making sure programs are placed in the baskets, and checking the liturgical minister sign-in sheet on the cabinet.
• Note liturgical ministers who did not show up for their assigned liturgies every week in MSP.
• Help with worship aids for special seasonal prayer services and Masses.
• Assist with the planning for special Liturgical Season events (Lessons and Carols, Tenebrae, etc.).
• Assist in event setup and breakdown for these events.
• Assist in setup for and breakdown of Masses and large campus liturgy events (Welcome Mass, Mass of the Holy Spirit, Baccalaureate Mass, etc.) and rehearsals.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Liturgy and Music Assistant must be dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently. Must possess good communication and computer skills, some proficiency or experience with music, and an openness to learning. The student should be able to work well with students, faculty, staff, liturgical ministers, and musicians. Interest in liturgy and/or music is helpful but not required. A conscientious, hospitable, and trustworthy attitude is essential.
