Assistant Superintendent of Schools General Statement of Duties:
The Director of Instructional Technology is a district leader responsible for advancing teaching and learning through thoughtful, purposeful, and balanced use of technology. This role ensures that technology enhances student engagement, supports instructional priorities, and operates as a coherent, reliable, and equitable system across all schools. The Director leads a service-oriented, educator-centered model that prioritizes:
* Instructional coaching and classroom integration
* Consistent and accessible professional learning
* Strategic and responsible use of emerging technologies (including AI)
* Reliable systems, tools, and infrastructure
* Responsible fiscal stewardship and long-term planning This position bridges instruction, data, technology systems, and operations to support Easton's vision for student-centered, engaging learning experiences. Key Competencies

Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership & Classroom Integration
* Lead the integration of instructional technology aligned to curriculum (UbD), MTSS, and district priorities
* Provide and coordinate job-embedded coaching, including co-planning, co-teaching, and modeling
* Develop a district-wide vision for instructional technology that is developmentally appropriate and balanced
* Support digital literacy, AI literacy, and responsible technology use (PK-12) Professional Learning & Capacity Building
* Design and implement a coherent, ongoing professional learning system
* Differentiate learning opportunities
* Develop on-demand resources (tutorials, videos, micro-learning)
* Ensure staff have time to practice, apply, and refine technology integration AI, Innovation, and Emerging Technology
* Develop and communicate clear district guidance on AI use, including academic integrity expectations
* Lead thoughtful evaluation and piloting of new tools aligned to instructional priorities
* Ensure innovation is intentional, strategic, and sustainable-not initiative overload Systems Coherence & User Experience
* Streamline and improve usability of district systems (Google Suite, Aspen, Open Architect, etc.)
* Ensure consistency in platforms, expectations, and access across schools
* Maintain a clear inventory of software and communicate availability and purpose
* Partner with Director of Curriculum to ensure technology supports instruction-not complexity Data Systems & Instructional Use of Data
* Support educators in using data systems to inform instruction, intervention, and progress monitoring
* Improve accessibility and usability of district data platforms
* Partner with leadership to strengthen data-informed decision-making practices Service Model & Support Systems
* Develop and oversee a tiered support model, including:
Responsive helpdesk systems Instructional coaching support Building-based support structures
* Ensure timely and differentiated response to both urgent classroom needs and long-term planning support
* Collaborate with IT staff to align technical and instructional support systems Infrastructure, Access & Equity
* Collaborate with the Technology Department to ensure:
Reliable devices, networks, and instructional tools Sustainable and equitable access to technology across schools
* Collaborate with the System Administrator to develop long-term plans for device access and replacement cycles
* Support assistive technology and accessibility needs in collaboration with Special Education Budget Management & Capital Planning
* Develop, manage, and monitor the instructional technology budget in alignment with district priorities
* Create and oversee a multi-year capital plan for technology infrastructure, devices, and systems
* Ensure fiscal responsibility, transparency, and alignment to student outcomes
* Collaborate with district and town leadership on long-term financial planning related to technology
* Monitor contracts, licenses, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effectiveness and value Supervision & Team Leadership
* Supervise and evaluate technology specialists and instructional technology staff
* Build a collaborative, service-oriented team culture focused on responsiveness and support
