Position Summary
The Quality Inspector I is responsible for inspecting products throughout the manufacturing process to verify compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and company quality standards. This position performs first-piece, in-process, and final inspections while supporting production by identifying quality concerns and helping maintain the integrity of our products. The Quality Inspector has the authority to stop production when products fail to meet quality requirements and is committed to maintaining a safe and quality-focused workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final product inspections.
- Verify products meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
- Stop production when nonconforming parts or processes are identified.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and sampling plans.
- Receive, document, and track sample parts within the Quality Lab tracking system.
- Review laboratory test results to ensure all required inspections and testing have been completed and properly documented.
- Issue, maintain, and track production gauges used on the manufacturing floor.
- Perform sorting and containment activities as needed.
- Assist the Quality Engineer and Quality Manager with quality initiatives, investigations, and other departmental activities.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Basic math skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency while maintaining high quality standards.
- Previous quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
- Familiarity with reading engineering drawings and GD&T is a plus.
- Regularly stand and walk throughout the workday.
- Frequently use hands for handling, reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds.
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color vision, with or without corrective lenses that meet required safety standards.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while following all required safety procedures.
