Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, troubleshooting, and overhaul of electromechanical equipment across the facility. This role performs preventative maintenance on a wide variety of production machinery, including processing and packaging equipment, and plans and schedules maintenance tasks to align with production needs. The technician ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports safe and efficient plant operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and scheduled preventative maintenance on all production machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and operational readiness.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production equipment and building systems to minimize downtime.
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule preventative maintenance tasks in coordination with production schedules to reduce interruptions and improve equipment uptime.
  • Adhere to all plant safety policies, procedures, and regulations, including strict compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in all maintenance and production areas.
  • Assist with the installation, assembly, and setup of new or relocated production equipment according to layout plans and manufacturer specifications.
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, including work on PLC controls, three-phase power, and related control systems, within appropriate safety guidelines.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair components such as motors, fuses, heaters, limit switches, electric motor clutches, and brakes.
  • Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create, update, and close work orders and to document all maintenance activities.
  • Record parts usage, equipment modifications, and maintenance history accurately and in a timely manner in the CMMS.
  • Collaborate with production and other departments to identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to equipment reliability and performance.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by suggesting and implementing maintenance-related process enhancements.
  • Participate in training during designated shifts and apply learned procedures and best practices to daily work.

Essential

Skills:

  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on industrial production equipment, including processing and packaging machinery.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems in an industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulics, including diagnosing and repairing hydraulic components and systems.
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatics, including troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic components and systems.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with three-phase power systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to support maintenance and repair work.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and PLC-controlled systems in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing motors, fuses, heaters, limit switches, electric motor clutches, and brakes.
  • Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and adherence to safety policies and procedures in a plant setting.
  • Ability to use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document maintenance activities and manage work orders.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Willingness and ability to work assigned shifts, including 8-hour and 12-hour schedules, as required.

Work Environment:

The facility offers a family-oriented company culture with a workforce of over 300 full-time and temporary employees working across multiple shifts. The environment is temperature controlled to support comfort and consistent operations. Employees have access to lockers for personal storage and a cafeteria on-site for meals and breaks. Available schedules include an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday (3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m.) and 12-hour shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on a four-days-on, three-days-off rotation.
