STEM Paraprofessional
The Preble County ESC is seeking qualified candidates for a STEM Paraprofessional for the Eaton Community School District. Under the direct supervision of the Eaton Hollingsworth East Elementary Building Principal, the selected candidate will teach young elementary-aged students problem-solving skills and foster inquisitive learning.
Position
Purpose:
This position will provide the opportunity for students to learn more about STEM/technology skills and how to utilize them for the purpose of learning. The paraprofessional will be working with children throughout the day, teaching, demonstrating, and having the children practice their STEM/technology skills.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide a safe classroom that will provide children the opportunity to learn and to practice STEM skills.
- Prepare lessons that will provide children the chance to learn about STEM and how to utilize these skills on a daily basis.
- Collaborate with the classroom teachers in preparing students to become more proficient in critical thinking, problem solving and how to utilize STEM skills to accomplish this task.
- Be an active member on the team of special area teachers.
- Conduct oneself as a professional and an active member of the East Elementary Staff

Equipment:
Assist in the utilization and maintenance of instructional and non-instructional equipment, including a personal computer if necessary. Use standard office equipment, such as personal computers and copiers.
Communication Requirements:
Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required. Effective writing and communication skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform complex arithmetic operations. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others. Ability to follow directives of teacher, media specialist or other supervisor, and assist students with respect to instructional and non-instructional tasks.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Qualifications Profile:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
High School diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of college-level coursework or passing of an examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act. Prior experience working with children is preferred.
Compensation and
Work Hours:
A daily rate of $125.00/day worked will be earned by the successful candidate. Work Hours and report time will be assigned by the Building Principal. FLSA Status:
Non-exempt
