CNC Machinist 3
Join our team as a CNC Machinist 3! You'll demonstrate advanced machining capabilities, including optimizing setups, performing in-process inspections, and making program adjustments. You'll collaborate with engineering and management on updating procedures and supporting special projects, while mentoring junior machinists and promoting a culture of safety and quality.
Operate 3 to 5 axis CNC machine tools to accurately machine parts per work instructions and manufacturing plan. Startup and shutdown machines. Run a new tool setup. (e.g. thread hole, pre-drill, blind hole, guide alignment and checks, etc.).
Verify conformance of in-process and final products through dimensional and visual inspections using a variety of precision measuring tools and equipment, including micrometers, indicators, calipers, profilometers, Contracers, and CMMs.
Use proper material handling techniques to ensure quality of product and condition of equipment.
Maintain product specifications by performing accurate measurements, detecting malfunctions, and replacing worn tools, while consistently adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Follow work instructions, setup sheets and other production related information.
Properly document measurements and visual observations by completing production and quality logs.
Use tool setter and tool dresser to set tooling geometry.
Generate maintenance work orders for repair of CNC machines and equipment.
Perform assigned preventative maintenance and maintain coolant lines and nozzle positioning.
Set up machines for production to ensure they're operating correctly.
Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate.
Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S. Demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities.
Performs other job duties as assigned.

Maintain organization and cleanliness, housekeeping, and 5S within the work area. Maintain these areas at the highest degree possible while responsibly escalating any maintenance issues.

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required
3+ years of CNC Machining experience on 3 or 5 axis CNC machines
Must have machine control experience
Attention to detail is required
Must be quality and safety minded
Must possess basic proficiency in operating computers, including navigating software and web-based platforms.
Must have strong shop math skills, including geometry and fractions, and use calculator functions to verify measurements and calculations
Good written and verbal communication skills
Certificate from Technical School or Trade School
Knowledge of GD&T
Understanding of input tool geometry
Knowledge of G&M code
Knowledge of 5S and Lean manufacturing
Experience machining Si, glass or other brittle material
