Our client, a leading advanced manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their team on 3rd shift.
This role is ideal for a highly skilled machinist with extensive 3-axis to 5-axis CNC experience who enjoys troubleshooting complex machining challenges, mentoring others, and working with advanced manufacturing technology.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate 3-axis to 5-axis CNC machine tools according to work instructions and manufacturing plans.
- Run new tool setups. (e.g. thread hole, pre-drill, blind hole, guide alignment and checks, etc.).
- Perform machine start-ups, shutdowns, and new tooling setups.
- Verify product quality through dimensional and visual inspections using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, profilometers, Contracers, and CMM equipment.
- Maintain product specifications by performing accurate measurements, identifying issues, and replacing worn tooling.
- Complete production records, quality logs, and inspection documentation accurately.
- Set tooling geometry using tool setters and tool dressers.
- Generate maintenance work orders and assist with machine repairs and recovery efforts.
- Perform daily and scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve machine issues and minimize downtime.
- Set up equipment for production, including fixture changes, calibrations, and machine adjustments.
- Troubleshoot machine performance and internal machine mechanics.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
- Assist in training team members and sharing machining best practices.
- Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 10 years of CNC machining experience.
- Experience operating 3-axis to 5-axis CNC machines.
- Experience with CNC machine controls.
- Strong understanding of tool geometry and tooling applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining and equipment issues.
- Fluent in G-Code and M-Code.
- Strong shop math skills, including trigonometry.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Safety-focused mindset.
- Technical School or Trade School certification.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Maintenance or equipment repair experience.
- Experience machining silicon, glass, or other brittle materials.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
- Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional lifting up to 55 pounds.
- Ability to work around moving machinery and manufacturing equipment.
