Primary Role in the Organization

Responsibilities- Order and maintain inventory of assigned parts or materials within company targets.
- Control freight costs.
- Cycle count assigned parts and materials - Quarterly and as-needed
- Investigate inventory issues to determine root causes and support countermeasures.
- Meet all department objectives as directed. Such as inventory turns, premium freight, overtime, etc.
- Represent Purchasing in meetings as required.
- Support new program introductions for assigned parts.
- Monitor build-out programs to eliminate obsolescence.
- Complete DSPS/JSP requirements per Honda procedure.
- Investigate alternative usage for obsolete parts and materials.
- Cross-train within the department.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities: (i.e. NISS, 6S, SQCD, etc.)
- Support all NAPM certifications: (i.e. J-SOX, TS, ISO)
- Experience
- 2-3 years prior Purchasing or related experience preferred
- QAD experience preferred
- Microsoft Office experience (Excel, Word) preferred
- Knowledge of manufacturing environment
- Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2-year college degree in related field or APICS certification preferred
- Physical Demands
- Keyboarding, sitting, walking, standing, and reaching. No unusual requirements for physical strength other than normal office activities.
- Must have the ability to meet department work schedules and be flexible with hours if required.
- Required to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally
