Job Opportunity

Preble County Job & Family Services is offering a full-time position with flexible/hybrid remote employment in the Child and Adult Protective Services department.

Duties

May follow Social Service Worker 2 on Child and Adult Protective Service referrals and open cases in preparation to transition to a Social Service Worker 2 upon meeting specific benchmarks. Attends required CORE trainings. Learn to investigate allegations of child/adult abuse and/or neglect and to substantiate the validity of the allegations. Maintain case records. Participate in assessing safety for children and adults.

Assist in developing case plans and monitoring the case plan for families involved with Child and Adult Protective Services. Meets procedural deadlines governing the management of social services cases set by the State of Ohio and ensures that this documentation is complete. Determines and re-determines client's eligibility for publicly funded social services programs including, but not limited to Child Care, Health Chek, Title IV-E programs, NET Transportation, Title XX, KPIP and PRC.

May conduct certification/re-certification for county childcare providers and Kinship homes. Provides support to the assigned unit, including compiling data and generating reports. Monitors contracts with social service providers (Child Care, Foster Parent, Group Homes, Residential Treatment Centers) and assists with renewing and updating contracts as needed. Monitors supervised visitations in the agency, ensures families adhere to visitation policies, documents visitation in SACWIS, prepares visitation reports for court, informs primary caseworker and/or supervisor of any concerns with visits, may testify in court regarding visitation.

Performs various clerical duties associated with social services providers AND/OR reviews county provided social services related billing invoices to be processed for payment. May provide or arrange and facilitate training for Childcare providers, Foster Parents, parents, and families, etc. Assists in locating placement for children involved with children services. Attends social services related training, conferences, and other educational programs AND/OR other duties as assigned.

Transports children to and from visits and appointments if necessary. May be assigned duties from lower-level classifications as needed.

Qualifications

Completion of undergraduate major core coursework or two years technical training in behavioral science, social science, early childhood development technology, education, or related field. OR four courses in behavioral science one of which must be in child development or two years experience in behavioral science of which 6 months must be in the area of child development, one course or six months experience in business mathematics, one course or six months experience in interviewing, one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding or word processing.

OR education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the qualifications stated above. In addition, must possess outstanding organizational skills and public speaking skills; must be able to work with a diverse section of the public; must be proficient in all Microsoft programs including Word and Excel. Must have knowledge of computer databases and be able to learn and work in the unique computer programming system of children services.

Working Conditions

Plays a central role in ensuring that clients (adults and children) are cared for in a safe environment. Therefore, the incumbent must attend to the possibility of harm coming to children and adults, who are unable to protect themselves. Therefore, the position requires attention to ensure that actions do not create dangerous situations for clients (adults and children). The incumbent generally works in a stable office environment.
