Mechanic Assistant

Putnam County Charter School System seeks qualified candidates for a full-time Mechanic Assistant in Eatonton, Georgia. To assist in maintaining a safe fleet of vehicles in a cost effective and efficient manner. Experience as a vehicle mechanic, including work experience on heavy trucks (gasoline and diesel). Valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B with P & S endorsement. Must be able to work shifts as assigned.

Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening. Clean drivers record. High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge and ability to perform general repairs on automotive and other mechanical equipment. Ability to use state of the art diagnostic equipment to diagnose and repair vehicles. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Ability to follow oral and written instruction.

Ability to maintain records. Inspect and maintain assigned buses and vehicles. Fuel vehicles and maintain appropriate oil levels. Maintain records as required. Wash spare and field trip buses. Maintain bus cameras, digital drives and digital cameras. Archive bus video records for future reference. Perform repairs as needed. Respond to road calls as needed. Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.

Assist in cleaning shop and work area. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities. Meet and deal effectively with staff members and other contact persons using tact and good judgment. Follow attendance, punctuality and other qualities of an appropriate work ethic. Ensure adherence to good safety standards. Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters. Model and maintain high ethical standard.
