About The Position

Allied Travel Careers  is working with United Health Care Staffing to find a qualified Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) in Eatontown, New Jersey, 07724!

Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

Location: Eatontown, NJ

Start Date: 02-23-2026

End Date: 05-25-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Days not specified, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Day shift

Hours per Week: 35

Candidate Pay Rate: $39 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide patient-centered occupational therapy services under the supervision of an OTR, helping patients regain independence in daily living tasks
  • Evaluate patient abilities and develop meaningful, goal-directed treatment plans
  • Implement therapeutic activities and adaptive equipment training to maximize function
  • Document progress accurately and timely in the patient record, communicating effectively with the care team
  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to ensure continuity of care and positive patient outcomes
  • Educate patients and caregivers on strategies and home programs that support long-term success
Qualifications
  • Current COTA credential (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant)
  • State licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure in New Jersey
  • BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
  • Current immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
  • Comfort working in an inpatient rehabilitation / skilled setting and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
  • Professional, compassionate communication skills and a patient-first attitude
Education
  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (or equivalent)
Knowledge & Skills
  • Skilled in therapeutic activity design and ADL training
  • Proficient with documentation standards and electronic medical records
  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment, splinting basics, and positioning techniques
  • Ability to assess functional mobility and recommend safe, practical interventions
  • Strong interpersonal skills for patient coaching and team collaboration
  • Time management and prioritization to balance caseload efficiently
