National Presto Industries is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Internal Audit Intern to join our Internal Audit team. This two-year internship provides hands‑on experience in evaluating business processes, internal controls, risk management practices, and compliance activities across the organization. The intern will work closely with audit professionals and business leaders, gaining exposure to various departments while developing analytical, problem‑solving, and professional skills.
The ideal candidate is an accounting student, seeking a 150 credit accounting degree, starting their fourth year and has completed Accounting 301 - Intermediate Accounting 1.
The internship is approximately 15 hours per week during the school year with the possibility of 40 hours per week during the summer. The work schedule is flexible and is based upon your classes and will start late August/early September.
Key Responsibilities- Assist outside auditors with financial statement audits, benefit plan audits, and testing of internal controls.
- Perform parts of audit process
- Assist the accounting department by preparing schedules for the quarterly 10Q and year-end 10K SEC filings.
- Document the testing of the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) internal controls for management’s assessment of internal controls (SOX 404).
- Perform financial statement testing and SOX testing for the Company’s external auditors.
- Prepare all work papers for the 401K audits. These work papers are given to the Company’s external auditors.
- Participate in year end inventory count at Presto Distribution Center in Mississippi.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company information.
- Currently pursuing a 150 credit accounting degree at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire
- Successfully completed Accounting 301 - Intermediate Accounting
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
