Deputy Court Clerk – Combined Courts

Hourly Pay Rate: $25.70 |
Closing Date: July 21, 2026

The Deputy Court Clerk operates under the general direction of the division administrator. The role manages a courtroom and maintains court records in compliance with Wis. Stat. 59.40, while providing a wide range of legal and administrative support across all divisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage courtroom operations and make summary entries of all documents and proceedings.
  • Maintain court calendars, request juries, review papers for signature and filing readiness, and inventory exhibits.
  • Prepare and issue subpoenas, bench warrants, body attachments, orders, and petitions.
  • Notify participants of court dates, appoint experts, and provide information on court procedures and rules.
  • Notarize documents and ensure all pertinent information is filed.
  • Assist in training other Deputy Court Clerks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned; regular attendance required.
Qualifications
  • Current resident of the State of Wisconsin.
  • High School Diploma or GED required;
    Associate degree or higher acceptable with no experience.
  • At least one year of administrative experience in legal, court, or paralegal field.
  • Physical ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Knowledge of court rules, procedures, practices, and legal terminology.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to explain complex matters.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive or confidential information.
  • Experience working with professionals and judiciary in a collaborative environment.
  • Occasional weekend rotation in certain divisions.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Accurate data entry and record keeping.
  • Proficiency in reviewing legal documents for correctness.
  • Ability to provide customer service to court participants and staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capacity to secure cooperation across departments.
  • Understanding of safety rules and regulatory requirements for court operations.
