This is an unpaid internship which may be eligible for academic credit and academic service requirements.
Requirements:
* Must be at least 18 years old
* A High School diploma or equivalent (GED, etc.)
* At least one semester of GIS experience
* Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with studies in planning, architecture, GIS, urban studies, or a related field
* Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to interact with all types of people in a political environment
* Ability to work independently, be detail-oriented, and self-motivated/self-directed
* Intermittent access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience using Power
BI, ArcGIS, and Esri Story Maps.
* Data analysis experience
Schedule:
Flexible scheduling up to 20 hours per week;
April - August (with potential for extension into the fall semester). Some weeknight meetings may be required.

GIS and Planning Intern Recruitment Snapshot
POSITION SCOPE
Under the direct supervision of the Community Development Project Coordinator, this position assists with special projects and administrative tasks in the Economic Development Division of the Community Development Department. This is an unpaid internship that may be eligible for academic credit.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists with projects in the Economic Development Division such as, but not limited to:
Collecting and analyzing housing and homeless data.
Updating, creating, and maintaining GIS (Geographic Information Systems) files and databases.
Working on action items from the Housing Opportunities Commission.
Contacting and updating Economic Development CRM database.
Assists with administrative tasks, including but not limited to taking notes during meetings, drafting documents, and managing files.
Attends special outreach activities, events, or evening meetings as requested.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
A High School diploma or equivalent (GED, etc.) is required.
At least one semester of GIS experience is required.
Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with studies in planning, architecture, GIS, urban studies, or a related field.
Experience using Power
BI, ArcGIS, and Esri Story Maps is preferred.
Data analysis experience preferred.
Intermittent access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license is required.
Must be at least 18 years old.
