Position: Bilingual Juntos 4-H Program Coordinator

Job Summary

The Bilingual Juntos 4-H Coordinator is a member of the Trempealeau County Extension team as part of the Positive Youth Development Institute. The Wisconsin 4-H Program contributes to this work through the purposeful engagement of over 24,000 youth members and 8,000 adult volunteer leaders in 4-H clubs and groups throughout the state and tribal nations. The Wisconsin 4-H program is a youth-driven, volunteer- supported organization committed to expanding access to all and empowering youth to thrive.

The Bilingual Juntos 4-H Coordinator will be trained in the Juntos Program, geared towards Spanish speaking youth and families, including core components of Juntos 4-H, including family engagement, 4-H clubs, and career readiness programming.

The Coordinator will work with identified middle and high schools and community partners to promote student involvement and focus on academic success, career exploration, and college readiness activities of youth participants. This position will provide the culturally responsive, high quality, community-based Juntos Program designed to reach Spanish speaking students in 8th-12th grade. There will be an additional focus on working with 11th-12th grade Spanish speaking students to explore Agri-science career pathways in partnership with local school Agriculture Educators and the local Agri-science industry.

Programs will include student engagement and support and will assist youth in achieving academic success with an emphasis on going on to post-secondary education. Major responsibilities include recruitment of students, organizing and implementing the academic year program, implementing 4-H clubs, and maintaining contact with students and families throughout the academic year with bilingual family engagement workshops and events.

County Location

The main office for this position is located in Whitehall, WI and the primary programming focus is Trempealeau County; however, some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area.

Terminal Position

The initial period of employment will be 2 years, with the possibility to become renewable contingent upon available funding.

In Person

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, on-site, at a designated campus work location.

Even/Weekend Work

This position may be required to work occasional nights and weekends to meet the program needs and priorities of the communities served.

Travel Expectations

It is expected that employees will make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions. Read more about UW-Madison Driver Authorization. Applicants are required to:
Have a valid driver's license and a reliable source of independent transportation for periodic in-state work travel, and/or comply with requirements for UW-Madison vehicle use authorization.
