Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer IV – Staff Engineer to provide technical expertise in new product development and continuous improvement of existing power systems. The engineer will lead electrical design, validation, system studies, product release, and technical problem-solving for power generation, power conversion, and medium-voltage power distribution equipment
.
- Lead electrical design, validation, and product launch from concept through production release.
- Design medium-voltage power equipment and distribution systems from 1 kV–38 kV
. - Design power circuits and protection schemes, including transformers, breakers, contractors, busbars, cabling, and switch gear.
- Perform load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, and insulation coordination studies
. - Perform component selection, sizing, thermal management, grounding, and bonding analysis.
- Support electrical integration of generators, inverters, transfer switches, switch gear, paralleling equipment, and power conversion systems
. - Develop and execute electrical validation and test plans, including dielectric/hipot, environmental, and fault-injection testing
. - Support EMC/EMI design, mitigation, and compliance testing
. - Create and review schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, electrical specifications, and design documentation.
- Ensure compliance with UL, IEC, NEC, IEEE, CSA, and ANSI standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, designers, and product teams to improve manufacturability, cost, reliability, and safety.
- Lead technical problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across the engineering team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
. - 7+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience
. - Strong experience with power generation, power conversion, or power distribution equipment
. - Hands-on experience with medium-voltage power systems
. - Strong knowledge of power circuit design and electrical system studies.
- Experience with ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD Electrical
, or equivalent tools. - Experience with electrical testing, validation, and new product development.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and safety requirements.
- Experience with MV switch gear, transformers, generators, inverters, paralleling equipment, or power conversion systems
. - Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, ANSI, UL, NEC/NFPA, and CSA standards.
- Experience with BIL, creepage/clearance, insulation coordination, dielectric/hipot, and partial discharge testing
. - Knowledge of rectifiers, inverters, and DC/DC converters
. - Experience with EMC/EMI compliance testing
. - Experience with SAP or other ERP systems
