Job Profile:
Police Officer I

In this part‑time position, you will support the University Police in enforcing laws, investigating complaints, maintaining order, and ensuring the safety of institutional properties.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Provide personal safety and crime prevention education to the institutional community.
  • Offer protection of life, property, and the preservation of peace and good order, and provide emergency aid to the institutional community.
  • Engage in problem solving, threat mitigation, and conflict resolution for a wide range of issues and incidents involving citizens, groups, campus entities, government agencies, businesses, leaders, and others.
  • Perform preliminary and follow‑up investigations to solve crimes, identify suspects and victims, apprehend criminals, and document case information.
  • Ensure the safe and orderly flow of traffic on institutional roadways and enforce traffic laws.
Compensation

The expected hourly hiring salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Certification or ability to be certified by Wisconsin Department of Justice, Training and Standards Bureau as a Police Officer in the State of Wisconsin.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Evidence of working collaboratively in a college or university setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with local and regional policing agencies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusiveness.
