Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED, etc.)
- Have no felony convictions on record
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Good human relations and writing skills
Shifts will include working evenings, weekends, and holidays. Approximately 20 hours per week.

Job Description Position Scope:
Under direct supervision, performs a wide range of field duties in the patrol division. Patrols the City of Eau Claire enforcing animal and parking laws, and as directed, assists other department personnel with service-related duties. The incumbent, in performing service-related duties in any of the divisions, has daily personal contact with the general public.
Essential Functions:
Investigates and enforces animal control ordinances of the City of Eau Claire. Investigates complaints of stray or nuisance animals and if owner has violated city ordinances, issue citations. Transports and impounds all stray dogs and cats at a designated facility if owner cannot be located. Responds to and investigates complaints of dangerous or wild animals that pose a threat to the community.
Investigates complaints of animal abuse and mistreatment. Respond to complaints involving animals, i.e., barking dogs, unlicensed animals; animal bites and impounds sick, injured, rabid, or dead animals, issuance of citations. Assists other agencies, including Health Department, DNR, Humane Society, etc., dealing with animal-related issues. Investigates and enforces parking control ordinances of the City of Eau Claire. Parking restrictions in loading zones, overtime zones, handicapped zones, and prohibited parking areas and issues parking citations and tows vehicles when necessary.
Investigates and responds to non-emergent calls for police service in the City of Eau Claire. Investigates and enforces additional ordinances as directed by the CSO Supervisor. Takes reports (i.e. theft, damage, etc.) where a suspect is not present or likely to be present. Takes possession of property (abandoned, stolen, etc.) and properly enters it into ECPD Property and completes NCIC validations on items entered as stolen by the Department.
Responds to found/abandoned bicycles, completes a report and transports the bicycles to our property room. Obtains written statements and other information. Responsible for setting up and removing the speed/barricade trailer at requested locations within the City of Eau Claire. Provides traffic direction assistance at scenes and events. Assists in the transportation of departmental vehicles to City Maintenance facilities for service.
Assists with activities such as agenda and mail deliveries, as well as the delivery of supplies from City Hall to the Police Department. Delivers or ships, as directed, selected equipment items for servicing repair calibration. Prepares and submits reports required by various job activities. Must be able to present clear, concise, and credible testimony, supported by factual evidence and sound analysis, in legal and administrative proceedings.
Operates and maintains all assigned equipment necessary to perform duties. Operates, as necessary, department equipment, i.e., telephones, copy machines, fax machines, computer terminals, in the performance of assigned tasks. Complies with orders, directives, and assignments given by supervisory personnel. Assists department personnel in service-related matters as directed. Assists clerical staff in office tasks, answering telephones, and/or serving citizens at the public inquiry area.
Maintain daily activity log and preparation and submission of incident reports on a timely basis.
