The Substance Use Professional - Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) provides case management, assessment, treatment planning, and additional support to individuals and their families in need of services related primarily to substance use and dual diagnoses. This position manages cases and offers referrals for individual, family, and group therapy.
- Serves as member of a multi-disciplinary case management unit serving individuals with various needs; acts as a consultant to agency staff regarding substance use disorder (SUD) issues; complies with Wisconsin State Statutes.
- Identifies full range of client needs through thorough investigation and assessment; differentiates between medical, psychological, vocational, social, familial, daily living spheres, and substance use disorders.
- Designs individual service program for assigned cases; collaborates with program personnel in individual case management.
- Applies expertise in cognitive/behavioral therapies and/or other evidence based therapeutic interventions to determine appropriate treatment method; collaborates with recovery team to devise, implement, and monitor service plans for individuals; develops Relapse Prevention Plans for participants as needed.
- Demonstrates motivational leadership to provide staff with support; works to achieve services and treatment objectives without duplication of effort and with maximum effective use of staff and resources.
- Provides and/or facilitates SUD treatment and support for individuals, family, or significant others in individual, conjoint, and group formats; offers information and support in application for and maintaining benefits programs.
- Maintains awareness of community resources and support services available for individuals in crisis; educates clients about available community resources and how to independently gain access to needed services.
- Adheres to strict record-keeping and reporting guidelines and laws; documents client contacts and services; maintains client files and client specific data for reporting purposes; gathers information and completes state reporting requirements; prepares other records and reports, as necessary.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external partners; serves as advocate for clients within the community; attends and participates in staff meetings, supervision times, and other regularly scheduled meetings.
- Develops professional knowledge and skills by attending training events, conferences, and workshops.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or human services related field.
- One thousand (1,000) hours of supervised post-degree clinical experience.
- Successful completion an accredited substance use counselor training program that is affiliated with a university or vocational college or other Wisconsin certified training program.
- One (1) year paid experience providing substance use services in an inpatient or outpatient treatment program, or a related service delivery model.
- Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of criminal and caregiver background checks.
- Certified as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC or SAC) or able to obtain a Substance Abuse Counselor in Training (SACIT) in Wisconsin within two months of hire and maintain certification as a condition of continued employment.
- This position will work remotely and in-office.
- An ergonomically correct and confidential workspace, at own expense, is required for this position when working remotely.
- Employees must provide high speed internet access at own expense when working remotely.
- Must have valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and access to private transportation for work-related duties.
- Must possess and maintain personal automobile insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000.
