What We Do:

PESI Publishing is seeking a book metadata specialist who can manage and optimize metadata for all titles across formats and platforms, ensuring accuracy and boosting discoverability. This role goes beyond data entry, requiring a strategic and systems-minded professional who can anticipate global impacts across editorial, production, marketing, and distribution workflows.

Overview of the PESI Publishing Team:

The PESI Publishing team is a rapidly growing independent publisher that produces mental health workbooks, treatment guides, children’s books, flip charts, and therapeutic card decks for clinicians, educators, and other professionals. Our recently launched trade imprint, Bridge City Books, produces self-help resources that “bridge” the gap between our clinical audience and the everyday reader.

We publish 25 to 35 titles annually and are only growing every year. Our collaborative team works in a fast-paced environment, takes calculated risks, and brings passion to everything we do (and we actually mean it!).

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Publish and maintain listings on Amazon, Eloquence on Demand (Firebrand), and other reseller platforms using ONIX, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Manage and update Amazon categories, keywords, and A+ content to optimize discoverability and sales
  • Update 300+ backlist titles on Amazon with refreshed metadata, search terms, A+ content, and reviews to optimize visibility
  • Collaborate with editorial, production, marketing, and sales teams to gather and verify data, anticipating how changes affect the broader publishing ecosystem.
  • Monitor metadata quality, identify errors or gaps, and implement system-wide improvements to streamline workflows and reduce downstream issues.
  • Generate reports and track metadata performance, using insights to inform process enhancements and support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitoring and staying up to date on book buying trends on Amazon and other platforms
  • Additional related projects as needed
What You Bring to the Team:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area
  • Minimum 3 years of book publishing and metadata management experience, with a strong focus on Amazon backend systems
  • Familiarity with ONIX for title listing management and Bowker for ISBN management
  • Knowledge of book classification codes such as BISAC and Thema
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other team members
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Adept multitasking skills with the ability to quickly adapt to shifting goals and deadlines
  • Proficient to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (or equivalent)
What Would Thrill Us:
  • Expert-level familiarity with Amazon Advantage/Vendor Central, Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), Amazon advertising, and Brand Registry
  • Experience with Netsuite and Power BI
  • Proficiency in HTML coding
  • Experience working with resellers and backend website content
  • Familiarity with Edelweiss, Pro Quest, Bookscan, and EBSCO
  • Familiarity with Canva (or similar) and basic video editing
  • A strong network of publishing-industry contacts
  • A desire to be a part of a growing, innovative publisher that is willing to challenge industry norms
