EssentialJob Functions What You Will Do EDM Setup, Programming & Operation – 60%
- Analyze CAD models, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine EDM machining approach with minimal supervision.
- Setup, program, and operate sinker EDM machines to achieve +/- .0001 accuracy with minimal supervision.
- Begin to develop and optimize EDM burn strategies with EDM Sinker Specialist III.
- Monitor machining processes and adjust to maintain tolerances and surface finish requirements.
- Moderate knowledge of tool design and understanding of fit and function of mold components.
- Work side by side with EDM Sinker Specialist III, collaborating with CNC, Toolmakers, and Polishing teams to ensure component readiness and accuracy.
- Work side by side with EDM Sinker Specialist III, collaborating and coordinating with Designers, Electrode Designer and management on EDM and tooling approach.
- Provide feedback on design for manufacturability and EDM feasibility.
- Diagnose and resolve EDM machining issues, including burn inconsistencies, electrode wear, and dimensional deviations with minimal supervision.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is operating efficiently.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cycle time and quality with direction and collaboration from EDM Sinker Specialist III.
- Follow all company quality standards, safety policies, and required procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality with all proprietary information.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Production Supervisor, Tooling Supervisor or EDM Sinker Specialist III.
- Associate or technical degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or related discipline OR a minimum of 3‑5 years of sinker EDM experience.
- Superior expertise in sinker EDM setup, programming, and operation.
- Experience achieving tight tolerances.
- Strong understanding of EDM principles, electrode materials, and burn strategies.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T.
- Experience with CAD software (Creo, Edrawings, Solidworks) preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving capability and mechanical aptitude.
- Extremely high attention to detail.

- EDM or Tool & Die related certification preferred.
- Completion of apprenticeship or equivalent hands‑on experience strongly preferred.
Compensation Range: $30–$37 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
