Reports to: Sanitation Manager
Classification: Exempt
Summary: The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for the leadership of sanitation team members, procedures, programs and regulatory requirements, ensuring all plant equipment is clean and safe for production.
Essential Functions- Empowers team members, through supervision, training and feedback opportunities, to meet and exceed expectations for productivity, quality assurance, waste management and food/personal safety.
- Ensures compliance of company policies and procedures, safety regulations, GMP’s, SOP’s, SSOP’s, HACCP and SQF.
- Coordinates and guides team on a variety of situations including startups, shutdowns, preoperational inspections, product changeovers, change management concerns and sanitation.
- Leads the performance appraisal and progressive, corrective action steps to promote positive and safe teamwork environments.
- Demonstrated three years supervisory or leadership skills in a USDA regulated facility leading a sanitation/production team or a bachelor’s degree with a prior Food Science (or closely related) internship.
- Working knowledge of sanitation chemicals usage and applications.
- Working knowledge of USDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation processes/procedures and HACCP.
- Demonstrated mechanical and spatial aptitude, including the ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment and the ability to formulate and understand complex mathematical equations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, to include professional oral and written communication, a team-focused approach and the ability to model composure/make decisions in stressful situations.
- A post-secondary degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Meat/Poultry Science, Engineering or Manufacturing Operations or related field.
- Prior experience with SAP or Infinity.
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite:
Word, Excel, and Outlook. - Knowledge of general First Aid and CPR.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position will supervise the sanitation team members at the Westfield facility.
Work Environment: Wide variations in environment temperature (-10 freezer, 32-degree coolers, 40-degree plant, wet cold environment) noise, slippery floors and moving equipment. Appropriate PPE and other protection as necessary or required.
Physical Demands: Position will include extensive standing at times, sitting, lifting, wearing factory required equipment while working in production, walking, visual, responding quickly to sounds and driving.
Position Type: This is an exempt, third shift position. Some Saturday and Sunday night work required.
Travel: Occasional travel to another facility may be required or for training purposes.
