Role Description The CNC Setup Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Milwaukee. This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and job specifications. Daily tasks include selecting and installing tooling, loading programs, performing test runs, and adjusting machine settings to maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards. The CNC Setup Operator inspects parts using measuring instruments, documents production results, and collaborates with supervisors and team members to resolve machining issues and optimize efficiency.

The role also involves routine machine maintenance, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and following all company safety and quality procedures.
Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC milling and turning equipment, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, and a solid understanding of tolerances, fits, and quality inspection practices.
  • Knowledge of machining processes (e.g., milling, turning, grinding, broaching) and familiarity with a variety of materials, including stainless steel and other industrial alloys.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining issues, adjust offsets and tooling, and optimize setups for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to follow standardized work instructions and quality procedures.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with production, engineering, and quality personnel.
  • Previous experience in a precision machining or manufacturing environment; experience in industries such as power generation or industrial bearings is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining or CNC operations is preferred.
