Department DetailsJoin a team of 5 Certified Nurse Midwives in a busy and growing OB practice. This position provides great team collaboration with flexible scheduling.
Call rotation required.
32 hours per week with full‑time benefits.
Job Summary- Provide midwifery care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs during labor delivery and postpartum.
- Identify additional needs for mothers and babies in birthing units.
- Monitor patients’ condition during pregnancies, including co‑management of high‑risk pregnancies, and perform examinations and procedures.
- Monitor fetal development by listening to fetal heartbeat, taking external uterine measurements, identifying fetal position, or estimating fetal size and weight.
- Maintain and record information in medical records and provide narrative summaries to other health care providers.
- Provide guidance to expectant mothers in prenatal self‑care such as nutrition, weight gain, and daily activity levels.
- Provide prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, inter‑conceptional, well‑woman, and gynecologic care and education for women and their families.
- Maintain records of patient conditions and test results within care plans.
- Order and interpret diagnostic or laboratory tests as permitted and prescribe medications within state regulations.
- Master’s degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) from an approved accredited nursing program of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).
- Certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board Medical (AMCB).
- Unencumbered license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM); must maintain current RN and APRN CNM licensure, or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
- Pass certification examination as stipulated by the appropriate state board and obtain/maintain appointment at the Sanford facility.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. - Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number and valid driver’s license.
- Maintain required department specific competencies and certifications; privileging documents and credentialing requirements apply.
