Description:
The PACU RN will provide patient care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1/2 for Phase 1 and 1:3/4 for Phase
2. Common cases include orthopedic, spine, ENT, general, vascular, OB/Gyn, plastics, and urology. Staff may be floated to attached outpatient surgery centers for similar patient care. Charge nurses take patient assignments. The use of Cerner as the electronic medical record system is required. Registered nurses are responsible for reading cardiac strips. Nurse aids are available on the unit and cover all areas, including pre and post-operative care.
Rotating weeknight call is required, with a minimum of one night per week. Weekend call will be a minimum of one weekend every six weeks, from Friday to Monday. The call response time is expected to be within 30 minutes. All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility.
