Our Dog Daycare provides day-to-day animal care and maintains the well-being of Barks and Recreation canine clients. Aspects of day-to-day animal care includes physical, mental, social, and emotional health for all clients in the care of Barks and Rec. The Daycare Attendant will ensure that the facility is clean, safe, and comfortable for human and canine clients alike. They will also be responsible for making sure the dogs in daycare have a fun, FANTASTIC and safe time!

Shifts

M-F : 6-1 am, 1-8 pm

Weekends: 6-1 a.m and 5-8 p.m

Education and Experience

1-year minimum experience at a boarding, training, or daycare facility preferred, but not required.

1-year minimum experience in the animal care industry including but not limited to positions such as veterinary clinic worker, pet sitter, or dog walker preferred, but not required.

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred, but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides care to canine clients of the facility that includes but is not limited to socialization, taking outside to outdoor bathroom area, feeding animals at scheduled times, administering medications as scheduled by the pet owner or vet, and reporting changes in mood or behavior of the client.
  • Manages drop-off and pick-up customer facing tasks that include gathering canine client information and preparing the client for admission or discharge from the facility.
  • Gathers pet related information such as animal name, age, breed, feeding and exercise schedule, and any medications and instructions for those medications that the canine may require.
  • Enters necessary pet information into the computer database.
  • Administers medication in pill or injection form appropriately based on company policy and canine owner request along with maintain medication administration records and ensuring to report potential adverse effects of medications to owner of the facility.
  • Socializes and exercises canine clients in indoor and outdoor areas of the facility and ensures that canine clients socializing with other canine clients are interacting safely and appropriately.
  • Ensures that facilities, including socialization area, kennel areas, and common areas are clean and well maintained by completing cleaning tasks including but not limited to sterilizing kennels between pets or on a basis as required by company policy, sweeping and vacuuming, and promptly sterilizing areas that come into contact with animal waste.

  • Possesses a high level of attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure that canine clients are receiving the highest quality of care.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand or walk for the majority of the shift.
  • Regularly required to talk in person or over the phone.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions
  • Subject to odors, loud noises, animal waste, etc. throughout the workday.
  • Interact with staff, customers, multiple canines at one time, and others encountered in the course of work, some of whom may be challenging at times.
