- Maintains a positive attitude; creates an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork.
- Generates a friendly atmosphere by encouraging employees to greet and speak to customers; providing prompt, courteous, and efficient service and sets a good example.
- Sets department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance and overall profitability.
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store.
- Makes an effort to learn customers’ names and address them by name whenever possible. Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out‑of‑reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, noting suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
- Answers the telephone promptly when called upon and provides friendly, helpful service, including taking customer orders.
- Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, disciplines, and evaluates all department employees. Determines department goals with store director.
- For homeopathic and natural wellness products, assists customers by accessing information and pointing to products, without providing instruction on use.
- Stays current on trends in each product category and educates customers by offering suggestions and answering questions.
- Determines weekly work schedule and establishes a daily work plan. Inspects signage and displays for quality and quantity and orders product for replenishment.
- Tracks proper rotation of products, checks expiry dates, and orders merchandise for replenishment.
- Communicates with employees about sales and ideas, and assists in educating customers.
- Handles and satisfies customer issues.
- Adheres to company policies and store guidelines.
- Determines retail pricing and ensures correct pricing.
- Analyzes weekly and monthly sales; prepares advertising projections and writes ads.
- Plans displays, promotions, and determines pre‑orders.
- Sets sanitation guidelines and procedures and ensures compliance.
- Operates cash register accurately, scans product, and reports improper cash levels.
- Fills displays, checks delivered merchandise, works in the sales area, and adheres to company policies.
- Reports to work on schedule and on time.
- Determines placement of merchandise and rearranges as needed.
- Assists in other store areas as needed.
- Performs other job‑related duties and special projects as required.

- Ability to compose original correspondence; follow technical manuals and maintain clear communication.
- Proficient in arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; 1‑3 years of related work experience.
Physical Requirements- Visual: see detail at near range with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, field of vision.
- Physical ability to exert up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly to move objects.
- Physical activities: balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.
Daily exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, cleaning chemicals/solvents, and electrical shock. Fast‑paced environment.
Equipment Used To Perform JobTelephone, fax, copier, cash register, intercom, wrapping machine, pallet jacks, forklift, garbage disposal, trash compactor, cardboard compactor, box cutter, knives, computer, calculator, price gun, C.A.R.S. system.
Financial ResponsibilityResponsible for merchandise.
