** Transportation Driver
** is responsible for transporting patients and/or equipment to and from various outside appointments, clinics, nursing facilities, hospitals, or other ancillary locations via hospital-owned vehicle. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.
This position is
** PRN Weekends
**** Job duties include, but are not limited to:
*** Transports patients in a safe and professional manner
* Assures vehicles are clean and in working order. Responsible for cleaning of inside of van utilizing appropriate chemicals between patients.
* Communicates with various hospital staff in order to receive relevant data and instructions.
* Inspects vehicle prior to daily vehicle usage for safe and comfortable patient transport. Reports vehicle concerns timely.
* Assists with transferring and balancing patients. Ensures patients’ physical and overall comfort.
* Follows all patient safety and vehicle safety requirements. Responsible for knowing what PPE to apply to patient and driver prior to transport.
* Notifies proper staff regarding changes in condition or behavior of patient.
* May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
* Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
* Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
* Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
** Requirements for consideration:
*** Minimum
Education & Experience:
** High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
* Basic Life Support card required.
* Six months van transport experience preferred.
* Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:
** Must maintain acceptable driving record, current class specific driver’s license, and insurability.
* Driving record must meet the standards of the Transportation Policy.
* Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
** Demonstrates proficiency using the machines, tools, equipment and/or work aids appropriate for the position.
* Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
* Ability to maintain quality, Infection Prevention, and safety standards.
* Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
* Effective organizational and time management skills.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills, compassionate and understanding.
** Physical Requirements Over the Course of a
Shift:
*** A significant amount of sitting, driving, and reaching, often for prolonged periods of time.
* Both gross and precise motor functions.
* Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
* Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
* Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
* Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
* Ability to hear overhead pages.
