Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing project-related financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and smooth operations. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with project managers and contribute to the success of accounting processes.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with project managers to oversee financial aspects from proposal inception to project completion.

- Verify the accuracy and completeness of project proposals, purchase orders, and internal setup documentation.

- Establish and maintain client projects within accounting systems for accurate billing and reporting.

- Prepare and submit client invoices promptly, ensuring precision and alignment with billing methods such as cost-plus or lump sum.

- Review and approve vendor purchase orders and invoices related to projects.

- Conduct regular project reviews to validate cost-to-complete estimates, identify variances, and manage month-end processes.

- Handle multi-company postings of project revenue and expenses with attention to detail.

- Manage accounts receivable and collections, including resolving discrepancies in cash receipts.

- Apply knowledge of U.S. sales tax laws relevant to services and project material sales.

- Close out completed projects by finalizing billing and resolving outstanding commitments. Requirements - At least 1 year of experience in accounting or a related field.

- Proficiency in managing journal entries and general ledger accounts.

- Experience with project accounting processes and systems.

- Strong skills in accounts receivable and project billing.

- Familiarity with AIA billing and other invoicing formats.

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data analysis.

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
