Staff Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to support a manufacturing organization in Eden Prairie, Minnesota through a Contract position. This role contributes to the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting by managing core accounting activities, analyzing results, and supporting month-end and quarter-end close processes. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with the broader finance team.

Responsibilities:

• Record and post journal entries with clear supporting documentation to maintain accurate financial records.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Examine accounting entries and account reconciliations for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal standards.
• Prepare variance analyses and summarize key financial trends and drivers for monthly reporting.
• Act as a key resource for finance systems by maintaining data integrity, coordinating testing efforts, and assisting users with system-related questions.
• Support forecasting and budgeting activities for assigned areas by compiling data and updating financial projections.
• Provide audit support by gathering requested schedules, documentation, and explanations for external auditors.
• Recommend enhancements to accounting workflows and procedures to improve efficiency, consistency, and control.
• Assist with special projects and additional accounting assignments as business needs arise.
