VFP is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the company's accounting operations, with a strong emphasis on multi-state sales tax compliance and month-end financial reporting. This role is ideal for an experienced accountant who enjoys balancing routine accounting responsibilities with specialized, technical work requiring accuracy and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multi-state sales and use tax filings across 30+ states, ensuring compliance with state regulations
- Support month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Research sales tax issues and maintain accurate tax documentation
- Prepare financial reports and perform general accounting activities
- Partner with internal teams to improve accounting processes and maintain data accuracy
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Previous experience preparing and filing multi-state sales tax returns strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of month-end close processes and general accounting principles
- Experience working in an ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines while balancing multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think beyond transactional accounting
Preferred Experience
- Experience filing sales tax for multiple legal entities
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or a commodity-based industry is a plus
- Familiarity with outsourced tax compliance providers is helpful but not required
