  • Located at Eden Prairie Art Center (7650 Equitable Dr., Eden Prairie, MN) and various parks and recreation facilities around Eden Prairie.
  • Position runs May
    - August 2026. Hours will average 10-15 hours per week and will vary based on needs: evenings, weekends required. Priority given to candidates who are available for all or most of the special events.
Responsibilities

The Theater and Events Assistant serves as a front-line ambassador for the City of Eden Prairie Parks and Recreation Department. This role emphasizes excellent customer service and meaningful patron engagement and works collaboratively with the Recreation staff to ensure safe, welcoming and well-organized experience for all participants and patrons. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:

  • Provide on-site support for concerts, theater programming, and special events, including event set-up and tear-down, monitoring event areas, assisting with sound and stage equipment, and serving as an on-site point of contact.
  • Assist with event logistics and troubleshooting, responding to immediate needs during events to help ensure smooth operations and positive patron experiences.
  • Engage with patrons and represent the Parks and Recreation Department, including staffing information booths, answering questions, providing directions, collecting surveys and feedback, and supporting overall patron engagement efforts.
  • Support parking operations and crowd flow, including providing parking directions, assisting with parking enforcement, and helping ensure safe and accessible event areas.
  • Collect attendance data, evaluations, and feedback, and assist with basic administrative tasks such as printing, distributing materials, and maintaining event-related documentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of events and park areas, including removing trash, resetting spaces as needed, and helping ensure facilities remain welcoming throughout events.

While these areas are the primary focus of this position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City to support Parks and Recreation.

Requirements
  • One year of relevant experience preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Must be able to frequently lift/carry/pull up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift/carry/pull 50–100 lbs.
  • Evening and weekend availability required.
  • Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, background check, work verification.
