Job Description

Faculty in the Automated Systems and Mechatronics Technology program provide classroom and laboratory instruction that prepares students for careers in automated manufacturing systems. Instruction includes hands‑on training in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), robotics, sensors, electrical systems, motor controls, and pneumatic technologies. Faculty guide students in designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated systems while collaborating with industry partners to ensure curriculum aligns with current workforce needs.

Responsibilities
  • Teach instructional lecture and lab courses in Automation Robotics Engineering Technology.
  • Continuously develop curriculum, including design, revisions, and implementation of instructional materials and assessment of learner outcomes.
  • Integrate assessment activities into teaching practices and participate in department and college‑wide assessment of student learning.
  • Support student success through a variety of instructional methods, available office hours, and additional resources.
  • Develop and implement on‑campus, online, and hybrid courses.
  • Contribute to department decisions on budget, scheduling, textbook selection, etc.
  • Participate in discipline, team, campus, and college matters through service on committees; attend regular meetings; and undertake continued professional development.
  • Support and advance the department and college mission through ideas and projects.

This position may involve developing collaborative partnerships related to grants obtained or potentially obtained by the program and college.

Minimum Qualifications Education Requirement
  • Associate degree in automated systems and mechatronics, electrical/mechanical systems, or fluid power.
Occupational Experience Requirement
  • Four full‑time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in automated systems and mechatronics, electrical/mechanical, or fluid power.
Recency Requirement
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application. The recency requirement may be waived if the individual has two years of successful full‑time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement
  • Course construction (credit course).
  • Teaching/instructional methods (credit course).
  • Student outcomes assessment/evaluation (credit course).
  • Philosophy of community and technical college education (credit or non‑credit course).
  • Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full‑time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall complete coursework in the above content areas prior to being granted unlimited status.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience programming robots and cobots including FANUC Robots and Universal Robotics.
  • Experience with VFDs and servo motors.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs utilizing Allen‑Bradley products.
  • Experience integrating robotic systems, vision systems, VFDs, and PLC systems.
  • Experience with electrical schematic reading, application, and drawing.
  • Experience with packaging machinery and/or process controls.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
