Senior Electrical Engineer Position Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer defines product requirements, translate requirements to implementable architectures, perform detailed design work and ensure the end product is optimized for manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage electrical design initiatives from concept through production.
- Convert product requirements into practical, scalable system architectures.
- Perform engineering analyses on components and assemblies to ensure solutions meet technical specifications while remaining cost-effective, manufacturable, and reliable.
- Design and develop microcontroller- and microprocessor-based systems, including associated analog and digital circuitry such as power supplies, sensor interfaces, ADCs, and DACs.
- Create schematics using CAD tools (e.g., Cadence OrCAD or Altium) and conduct simulations with tools such as SPICE or Hyper Lynx as needed.
- Analyze circuit performance to ensure reliable operation across defined environmental and operating conditions.
- Compile and maintain technical documentation, including design verification reports, rework instructions, PCB layout and routing guidelines, and trade studies/analysis of alternatives.
- Maintain accurate and organized design records using version control systems and related tools.
- Deliver engineering projects on schedule and within established budget parameters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and project managers to ensure successful project execution.
- Develop technical proposals aligned with customer specifications and requirements.
- Support and enhance electrical engineering best practices across the organization.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and recommend alternative solutions when necessary.
- Prepare and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), ensuring proper review and approval workflows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in product design (compensation and title commensurate with experience).
- Hands‑on experience with embedded systems and microprocessor‑based designs.
- Strong understanding of the full product development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, electrical design, documentation, design for manufacturing (DFM), design for test (DFT), and verification.
- Proven ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Proficiency with lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers.
- Working knowledge of serial communication protocols including SPI, I2C, CAN, and UART.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively with both internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities while maintaining a strong customer focus.
- Experience with high‑speed digital interfaces such as DDR, PCIe, SATA, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of RF communication technologies including Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n), Zigbee, GSM, CDMA, or comparable standards.
- Experience designing or integrating RFID systems (active or passive).
- Exposure to regulated industries such as medical devices, aerospace, or similar environments.
- Strong foundation in analog circuit design and simulation tools such as SPICE and Hyper Lynx.
