Primary ObjectiveThe Mechanical Design Engineer position is a member of the Electrical Hardware Development team at MTS Systems. The team is responsible for developing and supporting a wide range of electrical products focused on high performance motion control and precision data acquisition.
Major Areas of Accountability- System cable and controller chassis design, build, and test
- Interface with vendors and CM partners for prototyping
- Generate documentation (Assembly drawings, BOMs, etc.) required for manufacturing and assembly
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or related field
- 2+ years of experience using Solid Works for mechanical design and 3D modeling
- Hands‑on experience with building mechanical prototypes
- Proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis
- Experience with AutoCAD or Altium
- Experience with reading schematics and datasheets
- Experience with Test Method Validation, Design of Experiment (DoE)
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

$86,000 - $125,000 Annual Salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
